Scary Wednesdays: GET OUT

Wednesday, July 15
Sunset | HamptonsFilm Drive-In at Hayground School

Directed by Jordan Peele
(2017, Rated R, 104 minutes, English)

“Truly, madly, mercilessly entertaining, even when it makes you want to jump out of your skin.” — NPR

One of the highlights of the 25th Hamptons International Film Festival was a special program with the actors and creators (Jordan Peele, Jason Blum, Allison Williams, Daniel Kaluuya and Sean McKittrick) of GET OUT, focusing on the genesis, production and reception of the film.

Released in February of 2017 on a budget of $4 million, the film would go on to gross $255 million on its way to four Oscar nominations and a win for Best Original Screenplay for writer/director Jordan Peele. A contemporary examination of the insidious and carefully disguised system of racial oppression, Peele’s film provokes as much as it scares and entertains.
