As HIFF27 wound down, Monday still offered a full day of films, screenings, events and awards, starting with the Awards Ceremony and Brunch held at Serafina. The Jury Awards were handed out to films in our Documentary and Narrative Competition sections, and all of the other awards that were bestowed before and during the Festival were recapped.
Monday afternoon brought an encore screening of MAIDEN, the winner of our SummerDocs 2019 Audience Award, sponsored by Candescent Films, with the film’s subject Tracy Edwards as our special guest.
Our Closing Night film WAVES was one to remember! At Guild Hall, Anne Chaisson and David Nugent presented director Trey Edward Shults with the inaugural Zicherman Family Foundation Screenwriting Award, which is presented to an early-career screenwriter who has demonstrated singular vision and dedication to their craft. The young stars of the film Taylor Russell and Kelvin Harrison, Jr., joined us for a lively Q&A after the film, sponsored by Silvercup Studios.
Thank you to all who joined us, and we are already looking forward to HIFF28!
