Update: Due to the January snowstorm, we rescheduled our Winter Classic screening. The new date is Saturday, February 25.
HIFF is proud to present our annual Winter Classic screening at Guild Hall. Join us on February 25 for Alan J. Pakula‘s majestic 1962 drama, TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD, followed by a conversation between HIFF’s Co-Chair Alec Baldwin and Artistic Director David Nugent.
TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD
Join HIFF Co-Chairman Alec Baldwin and Artistic Director David Nugent for this latest entry in our long running Winter Classic series with an extended discussion of the film to follow.
In 1960, an unknown airline reservation agent published her first novel. That book, TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD, would go on to win the Pulitzer Prize and become one of the most beloved works of fiction as well as a staple in American schools.
Two years later, Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Horton Foote adapted Harper Lee’s novel for the screen and would eventually win the Oscar for his work, one of the film’s three Academy Awards. Featuring a career defining turn by Gregory Peck, the film masterfully captures Lee’s deft exploration of race & class relations, gender roles, and a child’s loss of innocence.
