SummerDocs Slideshow: ‘MAIDEN’

Our 11th summer of SummerDocs, presented in partnership with Guild Hall of East Hampton, kicked off Saturday, June 29, with MAIDEN, directed by Alex Holmes and featuring the inspiring story of an all-women’s sailing team led by our guest Tracy Edwards.

The screening was preceded by a reception at The Baker House, and followed by an in-depth Q&A with Holmes and Edwards, hosted by HIFF Co-Chair Alec Baldwin and Artistic Director David Nugent.

With numerous sailors in the sold-out house, MAIDEN received a standing ovation at Guild Hall, followed by a spirited Q&A with an audience that was clearly in awe of Tracy Edwards and her groundbreaking cohorts. One young girl asked a question at the end after stating how inspired she was by the women’s triumphs.

As she was taking photos with Tracy after the screening, we also overheard one woman say she woke up at 5:00am to sail out to East Hampton to catch the screening and meet Tracy!

MAIDEN is now playing in select theaters. A Sony Pictures Classics release.

Thanks to our generous sponsors for the evening, including Woodford Reserve and Scott Seltzer, Managing Director, The Seltzer Group, J.P. Morgan Securities. An additional special thanks to DuJour Media and The Baker House.

On Saturday, July 20, at 7pm, join director Mads Brügger for COLD CASE HAMMARSKJÖLD. The series will conclude with CIRCUS OF BOOKS on Saturday, August 24, at 7pm, with director Rachel Mason scheduled to attend. Tickets are on sale for both screenings.
