Films that have screened at HIFF earned 36 nominations at this year’s Academy Awards®, and several big names (and HIFF guests!) came away with the coveted statues last night. Also, HIFF has screened the eventual Best Picture Oscar winner in 7 of the last 8 years (including SPOTLIGHT in 2015), and is the only Festival on the East Coast with such a distinction.
