Slideshow: Monday at HIFF29

On Monday, we celebrated our HIFF29 Award winners!

At the Annual HIFF Awards Brunch at Serafina, we recapped the many films that took home awards during the first four days of the Festival, culminating in the announcement of our Jury Awards for Narrative and Documentary Features and Shorts. (Check out all the winners here.) Thanks again to our esteemed jury for carefully considering the films in competition, and for joining us in recognizing emerging filmmakers.

In the afternoon, director Doug Tirola spoke with an enthusiastic crowd following BERNSTEIN’S WALL, an innovative documentary that turns the maestro’s life story into a call to action for artists and the people who believe in the arts to create change in our society today.

And in the first screening of our Closing Night Film, sponsored by Silvercup Studios, our very own Board member Bob Balaban took the stage at Guild Hall to talk about his latest collaboration with auteur Wes Anderson, THE FRENCH DISPATCH, which he called “a love letter to The New Yorker.) (This is their fifth film together!) The film will screen again on Wednesday night, the actual final night of HIFF29.

Join us Tuesday and Wednesday for films all day at Guild Hall, including USERS, PETITE MAMAN, A HERO, and STORM LAKE.
