This Wednesday at HIFF was special for so many reasons, but first and foremost, we want to extend a massive congratulations to the winner of our 2023 Breakthrough Artist Award: Celine Song, the writer/director of PAST LIVES! Celine was presented the award before the special screening of her gorgeous film, which was, of course, a hit.
It was also an honor to hear from the team behind the brilliant film, RUSTIN—producer Bruce Cohen and director George C. Wolfe—in their Q&A following the second screening.
Yesterday was a big day for our Compassion, Justice, & Animal Rights Signature Program! We screened three lovely and educational films:

🎥 WILDING, attended by director David Allen—winner of the Zelda Penzel Giving Voice To The Voiceless Award!
A HUGE thank you to The Baker House 1650 for hosting a stunning reception in honor of this important program, and to Zelda Penzel for her continued generosity and support. Congratulations to David Allen and the WILDING team!
And another thank you to Airem Aesthetic Spa for hosting a beautiful dinner beforehand at Topping Rose House.
It is so bittersweet to think that today is the final day of #HIFF31—we’re sad that it must come to an end, but full of excitement for all of the talented filmmakers, and gratitude for all of YOU who came out to enjoy the movies, and continue to show your support for HIFF! One more day of fun and film!
