Update: March 3, 2025
Now that we’ve all caught our collective breath after Sunday night’s festivities, we want to send out huge congratulations to all the winners! A few highlights:
Out of the record 51 nominations for films and talent that joined us at HIFF32, 11 Oscars were granted, which is more than double last year’s haul and includes a record FOUR specifically for ANORA director Sean Baker*, who won in the Editing, Directing, and Original Screenplay categories, in addition to taking home the coveted Best Picture! His dynamite lead actress Mikey Madison also won, for Best Actress.
CONCLAVE screenwriter Peter Straughan won in the Adapted Screenplay category.
I’M STILL HERE—for which we welcomed director Walter Salles and nominee for Best Actress Fernanda Torres at HIFF32—took home the award for Best International Feature. A HIFF win was guaranteed in that category, since we screened all five of the nominees.
HIFF featured both of the films that garnered wins in the Supporting Actor/Actress categories—Kieran Culkin for A REAL PAIN, and Zoe Saldaña for EMILIA PÉREZ, which also took home Best Original Song for “El Mal.”
And finally, for the first time a HIFF film took home the Best Animated Film Oscar—congratulations to FLOW director Gints Zilbalodis!
It was definitely a night to remember, and we’re already looking ahead to HIFF33…
Check out the full list of winners,
*Not since 1953 has one person won four Oscars in one night, when Walt Disney took home prizes for four different films. Baker blew that away with his new record of four Oscars for one film!

EMILIA PÉREZ: most overall nominations (13)
