This year’s Oscar® nominations are here, and HIFF is well-represented.

We want to congratulate the films, filmmakers, and actors who have been a part of HIFF, and received a nomination this morning. HIFF films garnered 42 nominations this year, screening five of this year’s Best Picture nominees: HAMNET, SENTIMENTAL VALUE, BUGONIA, TRAIN DREAMS, and THE SECRET AGENT.
Guests of HIFF who received nominations included Ethan Hawke (Best Actor nomination for BLUE MOON), Joshua Seftel and Steve Hartman (Best Short Documentary nomination for ALL THE EMPTY ROOMS), Geeta Gandbhir (Best Documentary Feature nomination for THE PERFECT NEIGHBOR), and Steve Pinder and Julia Aks, Winners of the Peter MacGregor-Scott Memorial Award at HIFF32 (Best Live Action Short nomination for JANE AUSTEN’S PERIOD DRAMA).

We welcomed the team behind THE PERFECT NEIGHBOR for in-person Q+As at HIFF33, which earned a nomination for Best Documentary Feature.
ARCO, which played in this year’s World Cinema Narrative section, earned a nomination for Best Animated Feature.
Finally, HIFF has 2 films included in this year’s inaugural Best Casting award nominees: HAMNET and THE SECRET AGENT.
