Rowdy Talks - Creative Sustainability: The Year’s Best Independent Films, & What They Mean for the Business of Low Budget Filmmaking
In January, a number of modestly-budgeted independent films sold just out of the gate to distributors at the Sundance Film Festival. In this discussion, we’ll bring together high-level industry gurus and independent producers to discuss the climate of the business this year. We’ll ask them whether these modest budgets and distributor dollars will sustain today’s working artists and how this year’s films fared with audiences.
Rowdy Talks - Documentary, Reincarnate
Filmmaker Jennifer Fox and Tibetan Buddhist teacher Khyentse Yeshe will discuss the making of the inspiring documentary, MY REINCARNATION, which examines Yeshe’s reincarnation story and his relationship with his father, prominent spiritual leader Chogyal Namhaki Norbu. In addition to discussion topics such as reincarnation and deepening your meditation practice, the conversation will also shed light on community-supported filmmaking: Jennifer raised a significant portion of her budget through crowd-sourced funding. Moderated by a member of the New York Film Critics Circle.
