HIFF Screenings at East Hampton Library Begin with Special Guest Carter Burwell

As you may know, HIFF recently kicked off year-round programming at the East Hampton Library, where we will be screening one film a month for HIFF members and the community, typically followed by a conversation with a special guest.

Last Friday, December 11, we welcomed prolific film composer Carter Burwell at our inaugural screening, featuring Bill Condon’s Oscar®-winning film GODS & MONSTERS (which longtime HIFF fans will remember from our 6th edition back in 1998). Burwell’s score for the film received the Los Angeles Film Critics Association‘s Best Music award that year.

Burwell joined HIFF Executive Director Anne Chaisson for a fascinating discussion of his process and continued work with Condon, including this year’s MR. HOLMES.

This past fall, Burwell joined us at the HIFF 2015 screenings of ANOMALISA and CAROL, both of which feature his work. Once again, Burwell was recently honored by the Los Angeles Film Critics Association with their Best Music award, this time for his work on these two films. His work on CAROL has also been nominated this year for both the Golden Globe and Critics Choice awards for Best Score. We wish him the best of luck!

Monthly member screenings will continue throughout 2016. Please stay tuned for news about upcoming screenings.
