‘Black Swan’ in Palm Beach for 25 Years: 25 Films

On Thursday, February 23, HIFF takes the 25 Years: 25 Films series on the road to Palm Beach, presenting the HIFF 2010 selection BLACK SWAN at the Norton Museum of Art. Nominated for five Oscars®, Natalie Portman took home the Best Actress statue for her performance as The Swan Queen.

In 2010, HIFF alum Darren Aronofsky (THE FOUNTAIN, THE WRESTLER) returned to the Festival to present the East Coast premiere of his latest film,BLACK SWAN. Set in the cut-throat world of NYC ballet, Natalie Portman’s searing portrait of a dancer whose world is becoming unhinged captivated Hamptons audiences, and five months later she would win the Academy Award® for Best Actress. The film also stars Mila Kunis, Vincent Kassel, Barbara Hershey and Winona Ryder.

Special Guest: Thérèse DePrez, Production Designer

Thérèse DePrez, production designer for BLACK SWAN, will be the Special Guest on February 23rd. Ms. DePrez has worked on numerous films including HIGH FIDELITY (2000), HOWL (2010), MR. MAGORIUM’S WONDER EMPORIUM (2007), and HOW TO LOSE A GUY IN 10 DAYS (2003).

She was nominated by BAFTA for Best Production Design for BLACK SWAN in 2011. She won the Art Directors Guild, Excellence in Production Design Award, for Contemporary Film for BLACK SWAN that same year.

HIFF is exceptionally pleased she will be able to appear the the Norton for our screening of BLACK SWAN.
